March Development Clinics

Lacrosse is back and growing in the Nation’s capital and the Black Bears are hosting fundamentals and development clinics for kids to try lacrosse or hone their skills! Sessions will run March 14-17, 2025, at Canadian Tire Centre.

Try Lacrosse

Sunday, March 23 – 10:00-11:30 a.m.

This is a co-ed session; sticks will be provided to participants. The session will from from 10am – 11:30 am ahead of the Ottawa Black Bears game against the Colorado Mammoth.

All Participants must bring their own helmet with a cage and indoor sneakers.

Join our introductory clinic – designed for kids of all ages – who are new to the exciting world of box lacrosse.

Let the Ottawa Black Bears teach you the basics of this fast-paced game, including passing, shooting, and teamwork, all in a fun and supportive environment. This clinic is designed for kids with no experience but all skill levels are welcome!

Coaching Clinic

Saturday, March 15 – 10:00-11:30 a.m.

Take your box lacrosse knowledge and coaching skills to the next level. Learn advanced strategies, drills, and techniques from the Ottawa Black Bears Coaching Staff designed to help your team succeed in this fast-paced game. This clinic is perfect for coaches of all experience levels who want to enhance their understanding of box lacrosse and bring new energy to their practices. Don’t miss this chance to grow as a coach and lead your team to success. This session is off-field, designed for Lacrosse Coaches of teams U15 and above.

Elite Lacrosse

Saturday, March 15 – 30 minutes postgame

Take your box lacrosse knowledge and mindset to the next level with our exclusive Chalk Talk and Mental Prep Session! Designed for players eager to elevate their game, these sessions will cover advanced strategies, game IQ, and how to stay mentally sharp under pressure. Learn how box lacrosse can be a stepping-stone to higher levels of play, juniors or college, and gain insights into what it takes to stand out. This session is open to all athletes, coaches, trainers. Hosted by Ottawa Black Bears Jeff Teat, Reilly O’Connor and Kiel Matisz. The session will begin 30 minutes after the end of the game. A game ticket (included with your registration) is required to attend.

Sunday, March 16

The Jr. Black Bears 6 Team Challenge is happening at Canadian Tire Centre on Sunday, March 16.

All Participants must bring their own protective equipment & appropriate gear (helmet, gloves, body protection, indoor shoes). Children are not permitted to wear cleats on the turf.

The teams will be co-ed and all participants are welcomed to sign up, even if they live outside of the OLA Zone 5 region. Teams will be mix and mingled, meaning your child will not necessarily be playing with other members from their home Lacrosse Association.

There are two Challenges of six teams in the following ages:

Group 1: Ages 8-10 (born 2015-2017)

Group 2: Ages 11-13 (born 2012-2014)

The 8-10 age group games begin at 8:00 am. The 11-13 Age Group games begin at 12:00 pm noon.

Emails with schedule & additional information for each participant will be before March 14.

Registration is based on a first come, first served basis.

You can also rent the turf! Book in your lacrosse or other field-based team and play at Canadian Tire Centre. Contact sales@ottawablackbears.com. Subject to availability.
