OTTAWA – The Ottawa Black Bears announced today that they have re-signed Jay Thorimbert to a two-year contract. The 6’0, 199 lb., right-handed defence/transitional player first joined the organization in 2022.
A Whitby, Ont. native, Thorimbert is a 15-season veteran of the NLL, starting his career in 2009 with the Boston Blazers. He spent time with Minnesota, Buffalo, New England, Toronto and Rochester ahead of being signed as a free agent by the organization. In three seasons with the team, Thorimbert has recorded 17 points (nine goals, eight assists) in 51 games. He ranks first in all-time faceoffs won with 3,194, fourth in all-time loose ball recoveries with 1,930, and 28th with 231 games played.
“We are excited to bring back a veteran presence to this team with no sign of slowing down,” said Black Bears general manager Rich Lisk. “Jay is a vital piece on the field and his character, professionalism, and work ethic off the field is second to none.”
